Stroll: Trump will be gone in 2029, but gerrymandering will be here to stay
Ted Stroll, SVGOP Member and former candidate for California State Assembly, claims gerrymandering will never end if Prop 50 passes.
Newsom says he must fight fire with fire, a feel-good reaction against an administration that is successfully dismantling many of the Democrat’s progressive successes. However, according to Stroll, “the furor against President Trump and congressional Republicans in my liberal neighborhood makes this is an unwinnable argument. People are willing to sacrifice their own and other Californians’ interests if it has any chance of slowing the Trump administration.” furthering the belief that they must destroy democracy in order to save it.
But one winnable argument against voting for Prop 50 is that he believes gerrymandering will become permanent.
Stroll has great reasons why the Legislature’s takeover of redistricting will become permanent. Between continued population loss and a SCOTUS ruling that will potentially remove illegals from apportionment, he believes California can possibly lose many House seats. So Newsom feels justified in spending huge amounts of money in an attempt to get those remaining seats to go overwhelmingly or entirely to Democrats, hence his very overt Gavin-mandering game.
