Mid-Term Redistricting?
The Democrat party can never win on the merits. Who would rationally vote for more crime, more government control, more taxes, more wide-open borders, more surveillance, more nanny state, more co-parenting with the government?
So what can a guy do who is power-crazed, enthroned by slanted politics, willing to act as dictator, and desperate to become US President? Cheat.
In 2010, California passed Prop 20, “The Voters First Act for Congress” which tasks an INDEPENDENT commission comprised of citizens, not politicians, and consisting of roughly equal REPs, DEMs, and other parties, to draw Congressional district lines. This task is to be done on years ending in 0, as in 2020 or 2030, after each census.
Enter, Stage Left, the player who feels entitled to the White House. Remember this is all to empower the Dems to claw back control of Congress in 2026, impairing President Trump’s successes in his last two years and handicapping JD Vance as the heir apparent to POTUS. All in a shockingly corrupt attempt at a hostile takeover of the presidency.
In 2024, 40% of Californians voted for President Trump. But of the 54 Congressmen from our state, only 17% are Republican. Now he wants to take another 5 seats, leaving the state at 7.5% Republican representation.
In order to do this, Newsom is currently hustling to ram 3 bills through our legislature, with no regard for the California Constitution, standing rules on review periods, comment consideration, etc. These 3 bills are “gut & amend” (a technique to pass questionable legislation, which should not be legal), where lawmakers, well, “gut” a bill that has gone through committees but wasn’t passed, and “amend” it to add what they want to, in this case their proposed Congressional districts map, authorization for the special election in November, and the funding for this election. And with the supermajority Democrats enjoy in California, there’s little chance it won’t pass without legal intervention.
Newsom claims this is necessary to “protect democracy” because Texas is adjusting their districts, legally, via the Texas constitution. It is widely known that Texas has an underrepresentation of Republicans in Congressional seats – as does California. This is based on how people vote and their representation in Congress. He plans to take Republican representation in California down to under 7.5%, even though California, like Illinois or Massachusetts, is already heavily weighted towards Democrats.
Gavin is undermining California’s independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. He’s toppling California’s Constitution.
Will he get away with it?
